EMSA is pleased to announce a talk on the nutritional and hydration needs of the equestrian athlete. Most are aware of hazards of typical “horse show” food, though many of us are far more informed about the nutritional needs of out horses than ourselves. Dr. Pestana will help make sense out of current nutritional information for general health and will give specific recommendations for nutrition and hydration in the athlete.
Tatiana A. Pestana, MD, MPH, Certified Culinary Medicine Specialist a community physician in Coral Springs, FL. Though she practices (and is boarded in) both Pediatrics and Internal Medicine, her background before medicine was in public health with a special interest in nutrition, preventive medicine, and lifestyle medicine. She spends a lot of time helping patients figure out healthy alternatives and teaching them about cooking techniques to improve the standard American diet. We look froward to her insights understanding athletes and their training and horse responsibilities.
The talk will take place at the USEA annual meeting at 4:30-5:30 pm Friday December 9, 2016 at the Curio Collection by Hilton 3555 South Ocean Drive, Hollywood, FL 33019, Room 314. All are welcome.
