LONG TERM ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT
The British Equestrian Federation purpose in this manual is to provide an introduction to, and a unified framework, for the long term development of athletes in equestrian sport.
This 46 page manual is divided into 3 sections:
- Generic Issues in Long term Athlete Development
- The Long term Athlete Development Model
- The Equestrian Long Term Athlete Development Framework
The long term athlete development is divided into the Physical, Mental, Technical, Tactical, Lifestyle, Personal and Training. These are further broken down on pages 28 and 29. Each stage is outlined in divisions which are listed and explained.
Although this manual is written for the serious equestrian, its information is of benefit to all who ride horses whether for pleasure, amateur competition, rehabilitation, personal growth or employment.
Added to the FAQ page emergency room admission information about equestrian-related injuries, 2007 and prior years, here .
